about
this album uses (mainly) yiddish song as a way to discuss the persistence of jewish culture and the shadow cast over that culture by the holocaust.
tracks two and five use 'oyfn pripetchik' a yiddish lullaby which was hugely popular in europe before the shoah. it is often seen as a symbol of european jewish culture before this point.
track three uses the melody from 'donna, donna' (דאנא! דאנא! דאנא!' in the original yiddish) and a remix of this is included as a bonus track.
also included in the download are parallel translations of the two songs used.
'See, children, remember, dear ones,
What you learn here;
Repeat and repeat yet again'
